A note from our founder

Ready to Run is a non-partisan non-profit organization founded with a single mission: to close the gender gap in U.S. politics by empowering the next generation of female leaders.

We know that when girls run for student government, or seek leadership positions in school, their propensity to run for office later in life increases immensely -- by seven times to be exact. We aim to unlock each girl’s political ambition and potential early on, so she can find her voice—and use it to change the world.

Starting in 2019, we are building out digital content, workshops, and a community base that will teach young women how to run for student government in easy to follow steps [—and how to win!]. We want to inspire and prepare the leaders of the future, because research has shown that sometimes girls need an extra nudge. Learn more about our approach.

Ultimately, we seek to reach gender parity in elected positions across  the United States. At the local, state, and federal levels, female representation averages around 20%, while women make up approximately 52% of the population. What’s more, when you take into account representation of women of color, these numbers drop even lower: 8.8% of the House of Representatives, 4% of the Senate, and 6.2% of state legislatures.

Having diverse, representative voices at the table is critical to creating legislation that represents us all.

We invite you to get ready, get involved, and support our work as we begin to build the organization from the ground up. Please consider making a donation today—any amount goes a long way, and is immensely appreciated.

We cannot wait to get to work and get our girls ready to run!

To the Future,
